The British veteran politician George Galloway unexpectedly appeared in Moscow, Russia. The reason: He wanted to take part in the celebration of Victory Day on May 9th.
The highly charismatic and very outspoken Scot, known for his ability to question and think for himself rather than follow the mainstream narrative, gave a very unexpected and pro-Russian interview with the state-owned Russian channel RT, which is now blocked in the entire Western world. In the interview, he lavished praise on the celebration and Russia as a country.
When he was asked by reporters what he thought of the celebration, Galloway replied, “Overwhelming, emotional, powerful, impressive, everything. Ahh, I shed a tear,” said Galloway among other things.
Galloway also said, “This is the new Rome for me,” regarding his impressions and feelings about Moscow and Red Square.
On social media, Galloway received both criticism and praise for his trip and his interview with RT.
A critical user on X writes: “He’s a paid pro-Putin propagandist.” Another supportive user on YouTube writes: “Spot on George. Majority of Brits support Russia but EU and Government blocking the truth.”
George Galloway was a Member of Parliament (MP) for several terms, representing the Labour Party and later founding the Respect Party.
Galloway has been an advocate for anti-war movements and has often criticized Western foreign policies, particularly regarding Iraq and the Middle East.
He is also a frequent critic of the UK government’s stance on Russia. Galloway has been involved in various media projects, including hosting shows on RT.
