Did Erdogan humiliate Macron with this alpha male move by pulling the Frenchman’s finger to assert his dominance? WTF happened here?

In a truly bizarre video that has been circulating online, Turkish President Erdogan is seen, during a conversation with the standing French President Emmanuel Macron, when suddenly decides to grab the Frenchman’s middle finger tightly – and refusing to let go for several seconds.
Macron appears visibly uncomfortable and uncertain, while Erdogan continues to hold firmly onto his finger. Macron gently tries to pull his finger away but fails, seemingly not wanting to make a scene, and thus allows Erdogan to keep holding on until he finally lets go.
Both are then seen laughing, although Macron’s laughter appears more forced, while Erdogan looks quite pleased with himself.
This occurred during the European Political Community Summit on Friday in Tirana, Albania.
What has just been witnessed is unclear. What the heck really happened in this situation?
Many are speculating that this was an alpha male move by Erdogan, intended to show Macron that he is the boss, the dominant male, and that Macron is the submissive one.
Others argue that it was actually Macron who first attempted to assert masculine dominance when he placed his hand over Erdogan’s. This gesture didn’t seem to sit well with Erdogan, who responded with his own little trick by grabbing and holding onto Macron’s finger.
